Greeting and Introduction

“2022 세계 한국어학자 대회 - 언어, 기능 그리고 사용(ICWKL)”의 조직위원회를 대신하여 이번 국제학술대회에 참가하신 여러분을 진심으로 환영합니다.

이번 대회의 목적은 “한국어 화자들이 사용하는 담화ㆍ텍스트의 특징을 반영한 새로운 문법 체계를 정립하기 위해 기능주의 언어학의 유용성을 탐색하고, 이를 언어학, 한국어학 및 (한)국어교육에 효과적으로 적용하는 방안을 모색하는 것”입니다.

 

이러한 목적으로 이번 학술대회의 양대 축인 체계기능언어학(Systemic Functional Linguistics)과 인지기능유형론(Cognitive Functional Typology) 분야의 세계적인 석학들을 기조연설자로 초청하였고, 4일 동안 관련 분야의 국내외 저명 학자들 90여 명이 발표를 해 주실 예정입니다.

 

원래 이번 대회는 작년 여름에 개최하기로 하였으나 코로나 펜데믹으로 일 년을 연기하였고, 현재의 상황에서 부득이 대면과 비대면을 혼합(hybrid)하는 방식으로 학술대회를 진행하게 되었습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 많은 국가에서 저명한 학자들이 참여해 주셨고, 훌륭한 발표와 건설적인 토론이 이루어질 것으로 기대합니다. 이번 학술대회를 통해서 국내적으로 새로운 미래의 방향성이 제시될 수 있기를 희망합니다.

 

이번 학술대회의 준비를 위해 많은 노력을 아끼지 않으신 조직위원회 산하 4개 학회의 동료 학자들과 2개 연구소의 전문 연구 인력들, 그리고 특히 실무작업을 담당해 주신 집행위원회 요원들의 노고에 깊이 감사를 드리고, 모두 뜻깊은 시간이 되시기를 기원합니다.

On behalf of the organizing committee, I sincerely welcome you to the "2022 World Korean Language Scholars' Conference - Language, Function and Use (ICWKL)."

 

The purpose of this Conference is to explore the usefulness of functional linguistics to establish a new grammar system that reflects the characteristics of discourse and text used by Korean speakers, and to find ways to effectively apply it to linguistics, Korean studies, and (Korean) language education.

 

For this purpose, we invited world-class scholars in the fields of Systemic Functional Linguistics and Cognitive Functional Typology as keynote speakers, and 90 renowned scholars from home and abroad in related fields will present for four days.

 

This conference had been supposed to be held last summer, but it was postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and under the current situation, the academic conference was inevitably held by hybridizing on-line conference and off-line conference. Nevertheless, distinguished scholars from many countries have participated, and we expect great presentations and constructive discussions to take place. I hope that this conference will present a new future direction of Korean studies in Korea.

 

I deeply appreciate the hard work of fellow scholars from four academic societies under the organizing committee, professional research personnel from two research institutes, and especially the executive committee members for their practical work, and I hope you all have a meaningful time.
